OUR MINISTRIES
Sunday School & Nursery
Sunday School begins at 8:45 am on Sundays (September through June), before worship.
Children are welcomed to join their parents during our worship service, starting at 10:00 am that includes a special "Connecting with Children" time.
During Sunday worship, after the "Connecting with Children" time, there is a adult-supervised Nursery available in the church basement for children three years old and younger. Please escort your children to the Nursery when it is time to do so.
Fellowship
We have Coffee Hour (yes, you can stay for an hour — many of us do!) after worship each Sunday, with plenty of goodies and of course coffee and tea. We also have many community meals and get-togethers, including our summer picnic worship services in the Western Park, and community meals and potlucks. Check out our Facebook page for details!
Our pastor, Donna Schonewetter, is from Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. She graduated with high honors from Bryan College in Dayton, Tennessee, where she studied English and Christian Education. In 2005, she earned a Master's degree in Adolescence Education from Utica College. Pastor Donna also graduated with honors from the Utica Presbytery Lay Academy in 2010. She is a retired high school English teacher. In 2015, Donna was commissioned by the Westernville Presbyterian Church (WPC). Later, in 2021, she became their part-time pastor and was made a Commissioned Ruling Elder (CRE). Donna and her husband, Dennis, live in Westernville, New York, in the church’s manse. Dennis is also a member of WPC. Donna enjoys reading, writing, singing, playing piano, golfing, cooking, and baking. They love spending time with their five children, their families, and nine grandchildren, as well as traveling whenever they can.
Social Ministries
We have an periodic food collection program to support local food pantries in Holland Patent and Lee Center, as well as food ministries for Rome. We provide a distribution site for the Mobile Food Pantry of CNY. Our Deacons visit the sick and shut-ins and collect money for those who may need it. We financially support PCUSA special offerings which bring relief to countries and areas affected by wars and natural disasters.
